How do you deal with challenging behaviour?

We believe that children and adults flourish best in an ordered environment in which everyone knows what is expected of them. We aim to work towards a situation in which children can develop self-discipline and self-esteem in an atmosphere of mutual respect and encouragement. If you would like to know how we achieve this you can look at our Behaviour Management Policy or, of course, speak to the staff.

How can we find out how our child is progressing?

Sudbrook uses an excellent online, interactive learning journal called Tapestry for each child so that parents are kept up-to-date on a weekly basis with their progress. We also hold formal parent/teacher discussion meetings in the Autumn and Spring terms; in the Summer Term a school report is sent to parents. Parents are also welcome to speak to their child’s teachers during drop-off or pick up time. Each child also has a book which displays their work and observations of their progress made by staff. This is available for parents to see at any time. In addition each child’s teacher will have an individual plan to help him develop during his time at nursery.

Our staff are very experienced at settling new children.
