Sudbrook rated ‘Outstanding’ again by Ofsted – April 2016 report.
Nursery school established for over 50 years caring for children aged 2-5 from 8.30 am to 2.45 pm, Monday to Friday.
We are delighted to say that Sudbrook School has again been rated ‘Outstanding’ in every category by Ofsted in its latest report. The inspector told us our nursery was “beyond outstanding” and gave us the highest possible rating, saying in the report: “High quality teaching ensures that children are motivated and make rapid progress”.
The report says that staff are extremely enthusiastic, have excellent knowledge of the children and form close relationships with them, giving them self-confidence and helping them settle quickly and enjoy their time at nursery. The children are well behaved and form strong friendships. They have high expectations for the children, monitoring all aspects of their learning meticulously and helping any who need extra support. Children develop strong language, communication and creative skills. They are encouraged to be independent and physically active.
Our 2016 OFSTED report states:
“Staff have an exceptionally detailed knowledge of each child, are extremely enthusiastic and consistently encourage children to explore and develop their own ideas”.
“Parents provide excellent feedback on the outstanding quality of care and learning provided”.
“Children are very confident in their interactions with staff and form good friendships with others. Children behave exceptionally well and show high levels of independence”.
“Children enjoy excellent opportunities to be physically active and show great creative skills. Children are extremely confident communicators and gain the skills needed for school”.
What We Offer:
The school provides nursery education for children aged two to five. Our success is based on a high teacher to pupil ratio and employing highly qualified staff who are required to undergo continuous training and staff development.
Morning sessions run from 9.15 am-12.30 pm but an early drop-off service is available from 8.30am. We also run a lunch club 12.30 pm-1.30 pm and daily afternoon sessions where children can enjoy activities such as gymnastics, karate, drama and football until 2.45 pm. A parent and toddler group also runs weekly on a Tuesday from 9.30 am-11.00 am.
Nursery staff will also collect children from local nurseries or schools for our afternoon sessions.
The School Location
Sudbrook School is beautifully situated on a private road backing on to Richmond Park in the conservation area of Petersham, which is close to Richmond and Kingston town centres. The school is an unusually large, open plan space. It also has a full sized stage, which we use for our regular performances, and has a well-equipped, enclosed garden.
Sudbrook School is family-run. It is co-owned by Mrs Jo Jotischky, whose two daughters went to the school, and Mrs Jackie Mitchell, a former primary school head and mathematics adviser in Surrey for 20 years.
